...But I Know I Can't Lose You...
Apologies to all my friends who wanted to hear how the concert went...I need to upload some pictures before I can post about it, and I just haven't had time.
No, the real point of this post is to say something about my dear sister's wedding. first off, I didn't cry at all. let's get that out of the way, so I can be sure that no one will ask. second, next time I'm in a wedding, I want a shirt that fits. and a tie that doesn't choke me :)
third, I wrote this song late last night, partly inspired by the wedding in general, and partly by dear Miss Ashley Harris. I am not, however, going to say what she inspired, and you can just handle that :) so without further ado....
------------------------------------------
all the people, back and forth
from job to job working like there's no tomorrow
all my friends they're here but not for me
the ones I've known forever,
and the ones I haven't seen in many years
almost bring me to tears
and I don't want it to end,
but can't you see?
chapter's over, page has turned
can't bring it back, the paper's been burned
oh, can't you see?
it's been turned off,
like the lights in the potted tree
see a man standing there
by my sister, and smiling fit to burst
who is he, what's he wanting there?
does he really love her?
will he keep her safe his whole life through?
there's nothing I can do
and I don't want it to end,
but can't you see?
chapter's over, page has turned
can't bring it back, the paper's been burned
oh, can't you see?
it's been turned off,
like the lights in the potted tree
what does he say? says "i do"
"yes I'll love you", "I'll be true"
remember well the vows you made today
and remember who to go to if you fall along the way
and I don't want it to end,
but can't you see?
chapter's over, page has turned
can't bring it back, the paper's been burned
oh, can't you see?
it's been turned off,
like the lights in the potted tree
Good Day...
PS~Sorry I Reused An Old Title :)

-applause-
bravo!
Wow, that's good, and sad, and true, and cool, and bittersweet, and I like it.
Well done, sir.
I do love it Evs. It made me cry.
"it's good stuff, hilts..."
Evan,
This song you wrote made me think of my own dear sister, Sarah's wedding just last week. I'm so glad I read your blog tonight. I wish I could hear the tune that goes along with the words.
