shadows running twisting back and turning 'round
fading in and out beneath the darkness of the trees
just like lightning, across the hill

"where's the night watch gone?" you ask
maybe they're staring at a laptop screen
that's no problem, fine with us
it just helps us keep from being seen
watermelons, poppers on the door
a name on the parking lot
snapdragons on the floor
shaving cream on fence-boards,
yucca plants turned into swords
don't ever put teenagers together
when they're tired and bored
"what can we do tonight?" someone says
"wire the freezer and the kitchen doors"
"if we hit them too hard
they won't let us come back anymore"
watermelons, poppers on the door
a name on the parking lot
snapdragons on the floor
soap bars from the bathroom
underneath a full moon
that's what always happens
with devious minds in bloom
grab your camo,
watch out for the spotlight
run fast as you can,
please don't get in a fight
